Ha ha! Thanks Tom! Of course, this means I may have to put off going to Calgary this year. My deadline for the book is May if I want it printed in time for Comic-Con.

Steve - congratulations! I just had to post to note a weird coincidence. My family name (Mutch) is the same old Scottish name that has always been associated with Much the Miller's son, and I just won a Xeric in the same round as you. So that's score 2 for the Mu(t)ches.

Best,
Kevin Mutch

Hey thanks Kevin! And congratulations to you too! I never knew Much was a Scottish name. At least I gave him red hair. I'll keep an eye out for your book!

Heh- it has a slightly embarrassing provenance:

"mutch: a close-fitting linen cap formerly worn by women and children in Scotland"

I heard somewhere that his parents called him Much because he was so short. They used to introduce him with, "This is our son, though he isn't much." That's probably the version I'll go with in the comic because of the pathos, but it's good to know the real version.

Believe me, it's one of those names that subjects you to a lot of little jokes. "What are you going to name your children? Not, Too, and Very?"
