Alternative Press Expo
I'll be in San Francisco tomorrow at APE to promote the new anthology, Histrionics. There's a brand new Much story in it and lots of other great stories from Vancover based cartoonists. I'll also be selling my first Much book, and a 12 page preview of book 2 along with my new sketchbook.
Come by and see the Cloudscape Collective at booths 244, 245 and 246A

Fantasy Comic coming soon!
Hey guys,
My friend Mr. Esty's online shared-universe anthology, 'Illyham' is getting ready to launch October 12th.
Here's the link [link]
The idea is that all the stories will surround the town of Illyham, a port town set in a generic fantasy universe. Any style of fantasy is welcome in the mix. Japanese RPG, Sword and Sorcery, 80's cartoons, D&D, whatever.
It's completely open, so anyone can contribute. There are a few simple rules posted on the site. Ultimately, we plan to collect and publish the best stories that come out of this. I hope some of you guys feel inspired to contribute.
This is the project for which I created Una the Blade. I'll be posting the first Una story in a couple of days.

Nothing you have ever seen can prepare you...
APE IN A CAPE!!! I've been looking at too much Frazetta stuff lately. Anyway, I'm going to be at Comix and Stories at the Vancouver Art Gallery this coming Sunday. I'll have my own table where I'll be selling my new sketchbook and a preview of Much book 2. I'll also have copies of book 1 if you don't have it. There looks to be a great guest list as well, so come check out the show!

So behind!
Yikes! It's been forever since I updated. I'm still working on the strip though! I had a couple of anthologies to contribute to and some local events to attend in the last couple of months. Here are a couple of preview pages from a story appearing in Cloudscape Anthology 2 which will be available late this year. Enjoy!

Hi everyboday!
I know, I know. I haven't done any new Much pages in over a month. I really will get back to it, I promise. In the meantime though, I thought I'd share a few sketches from a project I'm working on for my buddy Sean (Mr. Esty) Thornton. He's creating an online 'shared universe' anthology comic. The idea is, he's drawing this fantasy-themed town as a setting for different cartoonists to tell stories. All the characters will be creator-owned, but with the hope that everyone will borrow each others' characters. I'm looking forward to it anyway, so here's some sketches. The warrior lady is Una the Blade, a barbarian wanderer who's also a single mom. I have a couple of other ideas that I'll share later.

Stuff White People Like
I just found this blog this morning. Painfully true and quite funny. I think you guys will enjoy it after the sting wears off. To quote Homer Simpson, "It's true! We're so lame!"

So here's what happened...
Ok, so there hasn't been any new stuff for a little while, and here's why. I was on vacation in Jersey for a week with my brothers (no, not 'Joisey', the real one, in the English Channel) visiting our uncles and cousins for the first time. That was great. I was amazed at how well we all got along. It was a weird but welcoming experience of suddenly finding myself among 'my kind of people'. All my dad's family live over there so I've never had the experience of a large extended family. I've also never drunk so much in my life. So that was good. On the downside though, just before I left, I inadvertantly wiped out about a year's worth of data from my hard drive. That's bad. Along with tons of other stuff, I lost all my hi-res pages from Much book 2. I still have the lo-res versions floating around the inter-web, so I can re-scan and reconstruct the pages. It will seriously set me back however. I'm over the worst of the shock, but it still sucks to lose all that work. Oh well...

No Much this week...
Sorry guys, I'm just too busy this week. On top of the board I have to hand in on Monday, I'm doing a storyboard test for a major feature animation studio! I'm really excited about it, and I've been busting my butt to get it finished. I posted an early version of it here: http://www.flightcomics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11551
Feel free to check it out and tell me what you think.

This is important!
An alarming recent article in Animation World Magazine has been brought to my attention. It concerns the issue of Orphan Works, artwork for whom the copyright owner cannot be found.
As any artist posting on the internet is aware, copyright infringement is an ongoing risk. I have had my own artwork borrowed without my consent in the past, and normally it doesn't bother me. The problem is, under this legislation, someone else may be able to register my artwork in their own name so that I no longer have the rights to it. The same may be true of blog entries, journals and so on, unless every piece of creative work is registered correctly, and at cost, by it's owner.
The actual proposal before Congress is transcribed here: http://www.copyright.gov/docs/regstat031308.html We can't afford to be caught lying down on this one.
